Finishing and Re-Finishing
Depending of the choices made by our customers, installed hardwood floors have to be finished if they come un-finished, as opposed to the pre-finished hardwood, which come already finished from a factory, having the desired stain and several coats of polyurethane or aluminum oxide. Wood finishing refers to the process of embellishing and/or protecting the surface of the floor.
There are certain steps to follow in order to achieve a great aspect of the unfinished wood floor: preparing the site for sanding, actual sanding with special equipment, buffering, staining if required by the customer, and applying the final coats of poly.
Sanding
The purpose of hardwood floor sanding, and thus the purpose of finishing, is to enhance the grain and color and to protect the wood itself. Poor or low quality of the sanding process or the finishing process will trigger the wood’s natural beauty and warmth to deteriorate. Here at Flooring Service Group will try to always meet the customer’s and the project’s aesthetic requirements.
There is certain equipment required for sanding the floors, and Flooring Service Group is using the best available machines for sanding on the market. Drum floor sander, Edger disc sander, rotary floor buffer, best quality and high endurance sandpaper are just some of the equipments our company is using to deliver quality jobs for satisfying our customers.
Our hardwood flooring sanding service is used as the first process for adding the finish touch to a newly laid solid hardwood floor, or even to refurbish and restore an old or established solid hard wood floor.
We can sand and prepare all types of hardwood flooring whether to a new floor or for a established floor that requires some restoration.
Staining & Finishing
On requests made by our customers, we will apply stains on the surfaces that had just been sanded, by this changing the color of the wood, but keeping the aspect and the effect given by the wood`s grain and structure.
After the surface was properly sanded and prepared, a number of coats of finish may be applied, often buffing between coats with a smoother sand-paper to eliminate the impurities that might fall on the wood surface between different coats of poly. We will buffer the surface, because buffering is designed to both clean and protect wood, gently dislodging dirt and also leaving behind a glossy finish in the floor surface.
Here at Flooring Service Group, we will also refinish the wood floors. By refinishing we understand the redoing or the fixing of a surface previously finished or painted, from re-sanding the whole surface to applying new stains and coats of finish, giving your floor a new look and a whole new perspective.
We will provide our customers with valuable information regarding the care and maintenance of the hardwood surfaces that we had installed and finished or re-finished. With over 15 years of real-jobs experience, here at Flooring Service Group, we guide our business after the most important aspects of our jobs: time-lasting quality and long-term satisfied customers. That is why, we will always be glad to answer your queries or questions, because we know or advice will prove to be valuable.
